Audience Research Survey
Using google docs i created an audience questionnaire asking people about genre and what audiences would like to see in music videos. The reason for creating this questionnaire was to find out relevant and specific information about what audiences want and like to see. I asked questions which will help me with the construction and production for my final music video product that I will be creating for my G324 Advanced portfolio. This questionnaire will help me identify certain likes and dislikes, what to include and what not to include in my final product. Most importantly it will tell me what the best age group is to target my music video at.
I asked this question to find out peoples opinions and what they want to see in an indie pop music video , indie pop is the genre we are focusing on for our final product. Instead of making the answers multipul e choice I left a box for people to comment in because I wanted the question to be as open ended as possible, I thought that having an answer box like this was the only way to find out peoples true opinions. I know that giving an answer option like this opposes risks such as; people not answering and people answering inappropriately, but I thought if I left the answer option like this I'd get true thoughts and opinions.
The majority of my questions were open ended questions which allowed me to get the best possible elaborate answers. Some questions were multiple choice, I used multiple choice questions when I just needed a specific answer.
To get a large number of responses i sent an email with a link to the questionnaire to all the students at Hartlepool Sixth Form College. I thought this would be the best way because the average age of students at college is around the age of the target audience I will be focusing on. It was also an easy way to send the questionnaire to a large number of people which will result in a large number of responses.
I hope to receive around 20 or more responses so i can access them and make the required changes to ideas and plans.
